Out collecting ironweed seeds, I was about to harvest this infructescence but became engrossed watching one little Vernonia seed, suspended mid-launch, waiting for another breeze to carry it off. There's something beautiful and amazing about the seed
This is my first year collecting seeds from Mimulus ringens (Allegheny monkeyflower). What a surprise when I turned over one of the ripened capsules and the seeds just kept pouring out. One small fruit, yet so many tiny seeds!
